I miss Rosebud

Well things since the last post have gone down hill fast!!! Rose is gone, the vet thinks she died of a heat stroke, but I feel differently. Ya see Alex and Ricky were at the house for the past 2 weeks with me and my girls. That I think was our first mistake. Alex and Michelle did not get along, Alex fussed all the time cause Rose barked too much. On July 3, Ricky and I got into a big fight, our relationship ended after I over heard him and Alex talking. On Monday he and Alex was moving out, Rebekah called me to come home, Ricky had tied Rose outside and left her there without water all day, this was around 4pm, she had been out since 8am. I rushed her to the vet where she later died.

So in a short time, I lost the guy that I thought would be a great husband and until his son got here was really good to me and my dog. And I lost my best friend who liked sitting beside me at the table watching me do stuff. I'm going to miss Rose!!!!

Summer break, new puppy and more.....

Meet Fred, he is a 7week bassett hound puppy. He is Michelle's puppy. Our neighbor's bassett's had these puppies and since Michelle spends lots of time over there, her and Fred bonded, and they go everywhere together. Fred is one lazy puppy, as you can see from his picture, he fell alseep chewing a stick and where ever you put him, he stays.

In a couple of weeks Michelle will be off to Volleyball camp, but Fred wont be alone, Alex will be there to watch him.

Who is Alex? Alex is Ricky's son, Ricky and I are getting married in September and Alex is coming down to spend the summer with us. He will be staying with me and my girls, since Ricky works and goes to school. (Ricky leaves a 8am and gets home at 11pm). Yeah a long day. It's a good thing Ricky took today off, he is at my house doing some much needed repairs.

Well I soon will have my new house soon. I got my downpayment, got my land, now got to finish picking out the colors. Gee I hate doing that, I'm always nervous the colors wont match up. Oh well, maybe I'll tell them to do everything white and I will paint it when it gets here. I'm getting a new doublewide.

DIABETES SUCKS!!!!!

I think it has been almost a month since I have posted. But if I thought March was busy, wait until you hear about April.

About the time I did my last post, something happened, I got really sick, I was so tired I couldn't get up, I was dizzy, I was drinking atleast 3 bottles of water an hour, I was so thirsty I couldn't get enough. I got to the point I couldn't think. Next thing I know, Im OUT!!!!!! What happened???? Well my blood sugar level shot up above 450!!!!! Normal for me should be 100 to 150. I had lots of test ran and then was told, DIABETES!!!!! Thanks alot!!!!!

A couple days later, I couldn't see anything, it was like I was stuck in a fog, I couldn't read, I couldn't hardley see to get around the house without getting dizzy, and worst off, I couldn't drive. I had to have someone drive me, at work all I could do was answer phones and take messages with a bold point sharpie on a legal pad, then maybe I could read it.

Now a month later, things have come back to normal, well some things, my doctor has put me on a very strict diet, I eat all veggies, a few eggs here and there, water, and sugar free every and anything. I have lost alot of weight, that is the best part about all of this. I have lost 20 pounds this month!!!!!!!! I'm just taken in my dresses until I can afford to buy new ones. OH did I forget to tell you, I have no health insurance either, thanks to my ex-husband!!!!

Well my doctor is a real gem, he is given me sample medications until I can get on something I can afford. So besides getting stuck several times a day, Life is Good!!!!

It's been a Busy March

WOW its been a busy March!!! I can't seem to find much time for me, but don't worry, even though I've been busy, I have had a great time. Several family cookouts, (I love going to these), helping my ex mom in law since her accident, (got her quilt top finished ain't put it all together yet), DD had her 12th birthday (her dad forgot it), work has been crazy!!! and the best part in all of this I found a great guy (lets see how that works out). And looking for a new home, that has been exciting!!! This is what I have found I like so far,

My Quilting Beagle

Many of the ladies on the HGTV Quilting BB has shown pictures of their "sewing buddies", well here is mine. I have a Quilting Beagle named Rosebud, this pic was taken last year when I was putting together my Sunbonnet sue , Rosebud sat in the chair (as seen here) watching everything I did. Later that week she ran off with my rotary cutter and I had to buy a new one, she hid it somewhere, but later we found it in the couch. Now I have moved my sewing table and she can no longer sit and watch me, so when I get out of my chair, she will hop up in it and look at what I am doing. I have promissed her I would make her a pillow, but haven't yet. Guess she is looking for it!!!

Frog time

As I stated in another post, my kids grandma was in an accident. DD wanted a frog quilt for her. So off to jo-annes and walmart I went, (we still have a walmart that has fabric!!!) I got frog fabric and some cute easter/spring fabric too. So I'm posting pictures of my progress,

Well today started off great!!! Nice weather here in SC, nice and warm, a new outfit to go to work in, today was going to be great. Got to work, the morning there everything was going smooth. Around noon I met my mom and a group of her co-workers for lunch, today was my mom's birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!!!!

After lunch it was back to work. Being a paralegal I go from courthouse to courthouse doing research, getting hearings scheduled, etc. Anyway, I was off to another county after lunch. On the way back to the office about an hour later, I got this strange feeling to call my ex mother in law ( she and I are still really good friends as I am with the rest of my ex's family). So I called her cell phone, no answer. About 10 min later, my daughter called, mom, Uncle Woody wanted me to call you and let you know Grandma has been in a bad car accident and is in surgery, so she won't be calling ya back. Then I lost it.

Come to find out she hit a truck head-on, has broken ribs, fingers, leg and was insurgery trying to save her foot, she still my loose it. So lots of prayers for her.

Then when I got home I had to tell my youngest daughter, she was so upset. She lost her grandpa and aunt tammy last year and now grandma. Michelle said, Grandma didn't need to be driving in the first place. Poor baby, I hated to see her cry.

We got home and she said, mom lets make grandma a quilt to cover her foot, she likes frogs. So Saturday Michelle and I are going to go get frog fabric to make Grandma a quilt for her leg, I got to get busy. I wish i could post something more happy.

Today would have been my dad in law's birthday, he passed away in April from cancer, Happy Birthday, Jack. (the above pic was taken about 10 days before he passed, he wanted to ride a motor cycle one last time)

Now on a brighter note, guess what my youngest dd did this morning, she went out this morning and started my car so it would be warm for me to go to work. She is out of school today and while I was gettting dressed, I heard my car starting, she came into my my room and told me that she could go back to bed and get warm again, she wanted my car warm for me to go to work, I thought that was so sweet of her. And she did go back to bed to warm up.

In 2009 I would like to:

drop a few pounds (and who wouldn't);
take a trip somewhere new;
finish more quilts for family for Christmas;
complete more projects at work;
maybe find a new job;
buy my family a new home;
spend more time with family;
and other things I'm not listing here, LOL;

So lets see how many I get done. It's New Years Eve and I am home alone on my laptop and going back and forth between sewing and internet. My kids are gone to their cousin's house on their dad's side for a party, I was invited to come, but decided to stay home and enjoy some time alone. Oh well, so much for spending more time with family. LOL Well I'll start that in 2009.

Halloween Weekend

My ex hubby called me late Thursday nite and didn't want to take our daughter trick or treating, she was upset. His new girlfriend and her kids showed her last year what they came back with and Michelle wanted to go. Besides, this would be her first time trick or treating, and she is 11. I usually take the kids to church events or either Carowinds for Halloween. I don't like being out at night on Halloween.

Anyway, he took her. She came back with alot of "junk" as I call it and had a great time. She got 2 capri sun drinks, a bottle of coke, even a corn dog and chips!!! From a snack bar in the neighborhood she was in. Along with a messs of candy. But the good thing is she had a great time.

I on the other hand turned off my lights, laid in bed with Rosebud (my beagle) and wathced tv. Until we both went to sleep.

Well I did get my Christmas tree up this weekend!!!! I don't like pre-lit trees, I like to change the color of the lights. This year I want a blue and white lights on my tree. SO I took off the colored lites that was on my tree, that was a job.

November 2 was Tammy and Woody's anniversery, poor Woody didnt take it too well this weekend, I pray for him as the holiday season rushes upon us. Tammy Loved Christmas.

It all started with Popcorn

Sunday afternoon I decided to make popcorn, and not microwave popcorn either. I got out my big pot and add oil and added the popcorn and before I knew it, both of my daughters were watching. They kept asking how is this going to make popcorn, we didn't know you could deep fry popcorn, soon the popcorn started to pop as I was shaking the pan over the stove, the girls were amazed at what they saw, and laughed when it started popping out onto the stove and counter top. I put the lid on and it finished popping.

Then out of the mouth of my 11 year old, I thought popcorn only came out of the microwave???? Gee, what kids these days are missing out on. That's when I started thinking. What all our kids are missing out on and what things from my past are slowly going away.

I grew up on a farm in South Carolina, I thought that all veggies came from grandpa's garden and mom and grandma either froze or canned the extra for winter time. Jelly and jams came from grandma's kitchen, (her fig jam was the best). My mom's friend Ms. Jane made the best pickels and would go to her house to help shell pea's in the summer. I remember watching Princess Di and Prince Charles wedding while shelling peas. And asking dad if we could have fish for supper, and his answer would be, if you go catch enough. So we did. Hamburger and steak came from that cow out in the pasture that was taken to the butcher and weeks later was wrapped up in white packages and put in the freezer.

Today,I am trying to change that for my kids. We grow some of our veggies, bake cookies from scratch and cakes, too. I am making biscuts instead of opening up a can of biscuts, I have made my own sausage, and hope to do that again soon. DD and I this summer put up some veggies in the freezer, and I have taughter her to crochet and we are taking quilting classes.

Back to School and growing up too fast

Today, Michelle started the 6th grade!!!! Yesterday, cut her hair. Now this is a big deal, she has not had her hair "cut" since she was born, it was down past her butt. She had 12 inches cut off and donated her hair to Locks of Love. She wanted to do that cause her Grandpa and Aunt Tammy both had cancer and lost their hair during Chemo treatments. Such a sweet girl, to go and do that. I am so proud of her.

This is the date that my best friend past away. Lung cancer has taken her to heaven. I had to laugh last night when I was told this. Please don't think that was a bad thing, let me explain.

In April my dad in law (well my ex Dad in law) died of cancer. He and Tammy when to chemo together, he told me , that he would go first and wait at heaaven's gates for Tammy's slow butt to get there. When I found out she had passed, my first thought was, him standing there waiting for her yelling, Here comes Tammy!!! That thought keeps me going, cause I know that both of them are no longer suffering and now they both have hair. LOL

Going to be missed

Yesterday, I got the news that the doctor's only gave Tammy about 2 more weeks. She has lung cancer, and gee I am going to miss her!!!!!! She is my sister-in-law (well she is married to my ex's brother, but you divorce husbands not family). Tammy and I did alot together. If it wasn't for her, I would have never started my hallmark Christmas ornament collection or have all my beanie babies, or went to my first quilt class or photography class. We went to Weight Watchers together, and she lost more weight than me!! but I forgave her for that. LOL There is alot of things she taught me and we did together, I could go on and on, about everything, but one thing for sure is, I always wanted a big sister, and for me, Tammy was like my big sister.

Family Part 1

I just wanted to share some photos.

The one with the 3 girls are Rebekah, my niece Lynne and Michelle.

The other one is of Rebekah (black shirt) and my sister in law Tammy, (she has lung cancer) and there is also one of Tammy and Michelle.

The one dated 11 25 2007, that is my 2 girls and their grandpa Jack, he died April 2008 of cancer, (he was the one Rosebud came from). The girls and I miss him alot.

Cancer has hit our family this past year. Tammy is hanging in there, but is slowly loosing the fight. It's sad to see family go through this. Tammy took me to my first quilting class and she and I quilted together. One Christmas I quilted her a tree skirt and eveyone loved it. It had snowmen on it. That was my first quilt. She took me to get my nails and toes done for the first time and was there for me when my marriage ended. I dont go and see her like I want, cause my ex lives next door but sends her lots of cards and emails.

My Kids with Paws

These are my kids with Paws, Bubbles my chihuahua is in my heading with my kids. He goes just about everywhere with me.

Dodger is the one in the picture standing up on the fence. I picked him up off the side of the road. Some teenagers were kicking him out into the street and watching him dodge cars. I stopped picked the dog up and reported them to police. I was hoping to find him a good home, but has been with us for 2 years.

Pebbles is the blonde, she does bite. When I come home from work she is alway there to welcome me home.

Baby is is the black and white shih tzu, she was adopted from Project Pet. She is blind and only has about 3 teeth. Project pet saved her from the pound and being put to sleep. But Project pet had her awhile, seem that no one wanted a blind, toothless, old dog. My daughter was volunteering with them and found her at the shelter. She was scared in a corner, she was in a pen with 2 active Labs. Rebekah asked if she could go home with her a few days. Well those few days ended up so far to be 3 years.

Rosebud is the beagle in the orange collar. She is a very special dog. She belonged to my kids grandpa, (my ex's dad). He had cancer and was not doing to good. He gave the kids the dog cause he knew she would be well taken care of. Before he died in April 2008, Rebekah would take Rosebud back to see him, Rosebud would lay on his bed beside him and he would rub her head.

I don't have a picture of Sassy to post (i am using my work computer my home computer is broke), she is my yellow Lab. That girl loves water. Ill try later to post one of her.
